Lesley Barnes

I really like Lesleys design pieces that she has on Picasso Pictures.

Shes a illustrator/animator which graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2006.

Its the use of texture, composition and over all style that draws me in.

These are the main two pieces that I really enjoy looking at. I find the colour pallete used in the first image calming and visualy satisfying, the colours used on the animals draws me as an individual away from the bold colours of the spiral shapes.

The piece on the left, i find interesting because it gives me the impression that the dept could go on for miles and feels like it has room for being animated

Tokyo plastic work is amazing, I love the quirky little characters they create for their clients, each one is different from the other and you'll never get tired of watching the CG animations.
I also enjoy navigating around their website as they use their work from projects and present it.

Tom Heatherwick

Born in London, Thomas Heatherwick trained as a designer at Manchester Metropolitan University and at the Royal College of Art, London. He is an honorary fellow of the RIBA, a Royal Designer for Industry, a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art and has honorary doctorates from Sheffield Hallam, Manchester Metropolitan and Dundee Universities.

Heatherwick Studio won the competition to design a monument to the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The design reacts against the convention for passive-looking monuments to sporting events that celebrate peace and harmony, rather than the dynamism and explosiveness of physical competition.

I really like the big bang but rather than what its really meant to mean peace and harmony, i see power and strength. With the spindle parts looking sharp and spiky like a sea urchin and the colour being dark and solid.

Looking through more of his work, I'd really love to see " Bleigiessen". From Heatherwick exploring the idea of tumbling water. The wire reminds me of a water fall and the tear drop glass pieces are beautiful colourful spheres which create a light around the area with a gold colour, maybe reflecting from the lighting around them?

Paul Greenwood - double negative visual effects

Double Negative, located in the heart of London's Soho, was set up in 1998 with a team of 30 staff. Since then the company has grown to 450+ staff. Its really strange in this day and age how CG is being created to look realistic, of course designers have tried for the past years to create human like cg characters which have been successful but not as successful as creating life like objects. Looking through the list of projects that double negative have worked on, there that realistic that i didn't even realize they were CG for example 'The Dark Knight".

Tal Rosner

Artist and filmmaker Tal Rosner made his name with radical interpretations

of musical compositions, turning slow-paced video art on its head to create dynamic, ever-changing motion graphics art. He has presented his work across the world from the Royal Festival Hall to the Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and won a BAFTA award for his title sequence for Channel 4's Skins. He has recently finished a new film for Channel 4/Arts Council Animate Commission.

When seeing Tal in the lecture, I really do admire his work even though I wouldn't have the patiences of a saint to create pieces of such quality like he does. I think it was more the geometric shapes which i liked the look of for example "Doppleganger", and how they
connected with others to create patterns.

To compare his previous work "Skins 1" with his latest stuff "Skins 2", to me its lost the inspiration of piecing shapes and layers together. I do understand that as time moves so does design but his earlier design work on the Skins 1 intro/bumper/credits is more successful than Skins 2.
